How To Include Ncert Books In Your Studies For Class 8 CBSE

Students go through this phase of excitement of finally getting promoted to class 8 and while being in class 8 the other excitement is about being a high school student in less than a year, and yes it is indeed beautiful. Students during this period think that after 8th standard it’s the end of secondary school and students are no longer kids and during this process they forget the most important aspect here and i.e. Studies! They forget how important 8th standard studies are and how it is going to have a huge impact in 9th standard.

NCERT books are recommended by CBSE for all classes starting from 1st grade to 12th grade to mold students not to excel in their present class but also prepare them for their next grade ( high school). NCERT books contain those topics which will help the students prepare for their higher grade as well as the present grade they are in, so that students will find it easier to grasp the topics in their next standard. After 8th standard the pressure of studies becomes intense, this is another reason why one must include NCERT books in their studies. NCERT books are written and published by experienced professors and the information provided in the books are totally authentic because the information published is provided by Government agencies and institutions apart from that unlike private publications NCERT goes through a phase of rechecking so that there are no mistakes and the information provided are reliable.

Students often get confused thinking they should either study NCERT books or opt for other publications thinking other publications have a vast variety of topics with very detailed explanations. Students can opt for private publications once they finish studying NCERT books. Because NCERT books are designed in a very basic way but on the same time it is very informative as well, students don’t require to write long answer from other publications in exams, CBSE design the question papers according to NCERT books and no question comes from outside books, apart from that students are asked to write in their own language and understanding of the topic and so NCERT books are the most basic and simple one so that students can understand easily.

All students must have a habit of including NCERT books in their studies because it not only helps in high school but also in various competitive exams. The main problem arises because students don’t have that basic knowledge about how to start and how to include the books in all subjects. Below are a few easy tips one can follow.

  • Never skip the introduction: Students have a habit of starting from the middle thinking why to read the introduction, as it is a complete waste of time. But this thinking is very wrong, and hence when one starts reading from the middle portion he/she will find the book useless and never finish or take in that book in the process. This is the first mistake a student commits. Introductions are the most important structure of every book. It is written and framed in such a way that students will find the topics interesting and look forward to learning more from that topic. Introduction is like a storybook one cannot start from the middle, even if they did, they probably didn’t understand the story. For example: in history exam questions are even asked from the introduction so it is necessary for students to read and understand the introduction carefully.
  • Never miss anything (not even a page): This is the most common mistake that every student commits. Normally every student has a habit of setting a particular target to finish that particular chapter, one should never do that. Yes it is very important to finish the book as soon as possible because the syllabus is vast and so are the subjects but it doesn’t mean that students will set a target of finishing 4 chapters in a day. Students must go through line by line for better understanding and finish it faster in that way instead of skipping a few lines from the topic.
  • Make notes: Students must make a habit of writing notes not only when in school but also while studying alone. Because NCERT books use simple and basic language and if a student takes the initiative to transform that basic language into their own language will be a plus point in exams because examiners are indeed bored of reading that same old basic answer scripts. This not only helps the students to learn more but also remember at a greater speed. It is said the more the students write the more he/she learns. Taking notes helps a lot in geography as well as history, for example, maps ; reading or going through maps aren’t enough, one should always practice maps.
  • Use the exercise questions from NCERT books:  NCERT books have many different sets of exercise questions which not every private publication has, the questions that are present in NCERT books are even asked in exams, so it is very important for a student to go through each and every question. Apart from that the in-text questions and answers which every student ignores, those are another mistake a student commits , just because they are inside the box with funny captions doesn’t mean students must ignore them, those are the most helpful ones. Most difficulty arises in Hindi because the books are very simple as compared to other subjects which have many in-text questions and catchy captions to make it enjoyable to study. But Class 8 Hindi NCERT books  do have a lot of exercises and grammar games so that a student will find it interesting and increase their knowledge as well.
