No matter how much you dislike the concept of timeshare, the majority still ends up buying them after a sales presentation. Ever wondered why?
That’s because their salespersons know the art of selling. They offer gifts and deals that most of us find hard to refuse.
But sadly, the entire timeshare presentation concept is designed to wear you down.
According to LinxLegal, “by the time you leave the sales presentation, you have talked to three different individuals who’ll act like they’re your best friends. Since the entire industry is full of fraudulent selling practices, one should be extremely careful before they attend a timeshare presentation.”
So if attending a sales pitch is part of your program, make sure you keep the following things in mind before you attend a timeshare presentation.
Things to Consider Before you Attend a Timeshare Sales Presentation
Leave Your Checkbook and Credit Cards at Home
We would suggest never take your checkbook or credit cards to the timeshare presentation. They might ask you to bring one of your credit cards to show before you enter the presentation. So bring a card on which you’re having a balance almost reaching the credit limit.
Be Careful of the Gifts and Prizes
Before you agree to go to the timeshare presentation, make sure the gift they’re offering is actually free. Many times the value of shipping exceeds the value of your gift. So be careful!
Negotiate the Offers Before You Go
As an attendant, you may have to spend 3 to 4 hours at an event. So yes, this is important that you get something valuable in return.
Even if you hold out, they might make a better offer to get you inside. Don’t feel excited if they offer a camera or electric appliances as giveaways. Wait for an offer covering cash or free vacations or tickets to prominent theme parks.
It is Best Not to Ask Any Questions
A golden rule – just sit and listen. No matter how many questions you have in mind, it’s best not to ask anything. Remember, the more you talk, the longer your sales presentation is going to be.
Don’t Fall for the Attractive Offers
The timeshare sales presentations are high-pressure sales events that only focus on making sales. The salesperson and the manager will make every possible effort to make you say ‘YES’.
The sad reality is most of their offers and claims are not actually part of the timeshare contract. For instance, if a salesperson is constantly talking about the room service and daily housekeeping, it’s a clear indication that they’re lying as timeshares offer none of those.
If you fell for the offers you received during the presentation and now have buyer’s remorse after getting back to your home, then you must look for ways to cancel it.
If you’re still protected by the rescission period, you can write a letter to the company and ask for cancellation. Alternatively, you can consider reselling your timeshare contract or hiring a timeshare exit company to help you get rid of the contract.
